    I'm back!

Couldn't stay away from trucks for long. Traded the 09 in on a 12 Civic Si a few months ago due to having a long commute but just missed having a truck so instead of trading/selling the Honda I picked up this as a project. Looking forward to getting back into the scene.

    Specs:

    2001 Sierra SL 4x4
    140k on the clock
    4.8/Auto
    Grampy edition

Lots of plans for this one so stay tuned.

Glad you got a truck, but damn I loved your white truck I think it was perfect. Congrats on the new project. Is the SI fun at least?

Thanks Mark. I miss the white truck from time to time too, it's actually for sale up here on Craigslist right now. The Si is actually a lot of fun to drive though, and it's certainly nice to drive something that gets 30+ MPGs as a daily.

Getting rid of the 2009 made me realize how practical a leveled truck is for the Northeast in the winter so this one will probably be done similarly. The advantage of having an older truck with 140k miles and no warranty is I can dig into it and do whatever without tip toeing around any warranty issues, that means this one will likely get a cam, stall, etc.

Was wondering where you went. The white truck was exactly how I wanted to do the next truck.

I think you'll like that a lot more. Definitely makes it a lot more driveable.

Well, I think I'm in for it with this one already. The check engine light came on after I stopped at a store and restarted the truck yesterday on the way home from work.

Fast forward 2 hours and I went to go for a drive and got a 1/2 mile from the house and the truck died at a stop sign. Wouldn't start again for any extended period of time. Got it running twice for about 5 seconds or so and it ran like complete crap before it died again. Had it towed to a shop since I don't have a garage to work on it and it's like -10 F right now.

I was thinking immediately it's the fuel pump, prime time for one to fail (140k miles).

To add to the story, I went to grab some work stuff out of the truck this morning and had a spare key. Curiosity struck and I tried to start the truck, it started second try and ran for 5 minutes without a hiccup. Got to work and called the mechanic and he said he also ran it for about 10 minutes and it ran okay. Check engine light still on.

The previous owner said he hadn't driven the truck much in the recent past, I wonder if it could be some bad fuel or something. It just seems to me it's the pump.

    What do you guys think?

Pump sounds justified to me. You need a Walbro 400 in here anyways.

Confirmed it's the pump. Think I'll do a Walbro.

Nothing makes you more discouraged at a truck purchase when the fuel pump dies on the day you buy the truck.

I feel ya on that one, bought a camaro last summer, about 15 miles in the the drive home, water pump went out and
left me stranded. I was not a happy camper, lol.
