Well I'll keep this in back of my head. I bought the truck since I figured it was pretty cheap and bought another crew cab that better fits me for a DD. Wanted a fourwheel drive

check the rpo codes to see what gear it has, 4.10 is good / 4.56 sucks.

as far as "having to do a 6 liter" - negative. my truck was a factory tbi 350. motivated it around just fine with a 600 pound rear bumper.

If you want to run factory truck exhaust manifolds you will have to notch the frame.

If its a hydroboost convert to rear discs, the thing will stop on a dime. And it'll knock around 55 pounds of rotational mass off the rear end.

other than that, I recommend lowering the hell out of it. you turn a lot of heads. I originally wanted to bag mine, but it takes balls to static drop one of these things.
