4l60e gone again.... what to do on rebuild options

Ive searched endlessly on this transmission. My 03 Silverado 1500 2wd. Thinking of rebuilding it myself with upgrades. Lost my 2nd and 4th gears while heading out camping. Transmission has 30K on a rebuild from a local trans shop. Warranty is up on Friday, what a coincidence! 2yrs unlimited mileage. Do I allow this shop to make it right, assuming they will rebuild/fix my failing transmission? Do I attempt my own rebuild? I have another shop in mind but the money spent there could be the money building me a nice solid unit on my own.

Sounds like u broke ur 2-4 band. If u do rebuild it go with a wide kevlar 2-4 band with hardened anchor. Beast sunshell and a z-pack. Vet second. Ull love this combo and should last u a while

If its under warranty take it in and atleast see if they will cover it. No point in spending money not needed. I'd suggest you have some kind of basic knowledge if you want to rebuild it your self. It's not to bad just alot of small things

Yeah, I'll take it there in the am, cross my fingers I guess. Dont have any money now anyway so it will have to sit with the trans out for now. I did put in the vette servo about one year ago. Much better 1-2 shifts for sure and thats what I wanted. I tow on occasion to the dunes and cinders. Idk what combo if I do rebuild, thinking transgo shift kit stage 2, New master kit (unsure of brand), kevlar band, beast sunshell and z-pack, ac delco long servo pin, sonnax pinless forward accumulator piston kit. Any opinions/help/insight on this setup....?

dropped it off at the trans shop that rebuilt it today, they will tear into it and let me know tomorrow what they think. He said the heat strip hit 270 on the temp but he didnt think the trans lines were clogged because the converter had no heat marks on it. The fluid was burned smelling though. I really hope they hold to their warranty and make this good..........

Take it back. It lasted that long. Repair should be covered, no? Worry about future fails in the future.

ok, just got it back today. They told me the reverse drum broke and the band broke. They fixed the issues and gave me another torque converter. Hope it works and the if/when it fails again, Ill rebuild it next time like gasguzzer said-in the future.
