I know this thread is a few days old....
I was under the assumption that all this stuff could be simply turned off through a good tune. Is that not the case? I understand the lifters are junk, but that's an easy fix.

The VVT sparked my interest I found a pretty good read on ls1tech about VVT cams and VVT tuning. Even Patrick G offers his insight.

I would also replace the Gen IV timing chain tensioner with the old style LS2 wedge tensioner. Its cheap insurance and to my knowledge is not included in either the VVT or DOD delete kits.
