If you are going with 35" tires, call Ron at ronsmachiningservice.com and tell him you want 4.56s and tru trac. Gotta change the front gears too of course. And then call chris at circle d and he will probably recommend a 2800-3000 stall. You should be happy with that

Ditto, guy doesnt know what he wants. List of things you can do:
    Bigger engine
    smaller tires
    gears
    bigger engine
    smaller tires
    supercharger
    bigger engine
    smaller tires
    camshaft(requires matching torque converter)

Edit: Or all of the above

Some Z71's also came with 3.42 and even 3.23 axle gears.

My new Z71 has the 3.42s, but it also has the 6l80e. The 3.73s in with this trans are similar to getting 4.10s stock with a 4l60e

So much win in this thread !! Throttle response sucks because you have a 4.8 in a heavy 4x4 .. Gears will help a Ton!!! I stall 4.56 in anything more then 32" tires .. Any less 4.10s .. You need to find you a 800.00 6.0l to drop in would be a quick and easy fix since a complete gear and locker swap will cost you 2000 range .. It will take a really good tune .. No cats and intake system to make any power with that 4.8 and you will still have nothing compared to a 6.0l .. If you play on the rocks or mudd or anything offroad I don't tell people to add stalls ... It makes a bad problem worse !! And it will kill a trans in a hurry ... Gears and lockers first .. Or more power .. Then focus on the trans combo and possibly a stall but I wouldn't want to sell you something you don't need or will be really un happy with .. Get at least 4.56 gears and lockers first
