You must have the Gen3 water temp sensor on the engine and wired into the PCM to properly run the engine, this is why I chose to tap the waterpump to install the OBS water temp sensor within it.

Ok. So pretty much you need to tap for another sensor for the gauge to work.
Is it easier than trying to get your gauge to work with a 98 LS sensor that is 3 wires?

You can use the 98 sensor but the temp will be wrong on the gauge.
