tranny help

so i have a gen 3 5.3 that im building and that will of course smoke the 4l60 i have in my truck right now. so i can find alot of 4l80e tannys out of 90's series engines. can i use those or somehow modify them to work in my 04 silverado? one more question. the 4.8 in my truck should be a gen 3 also correct?

Get a late model 80e, I heard they have all the latest updates and parts, plus, they are better, so I hear.
