    metal shavings in oil

i found metal shavings in my oil on my dipstick, should i change my oil and everything and hope i dont see anymore or should i just wait for the expected to happen and replace the motor lately, any opinions will help, i have a 05 with a 5.3 with 86000 miles on it, no mods other than exhaust and a cold air intake

I don't think either of your suggestions is optimal...I would try to find the source of the shavings and fix whatever the culprit is. If that results in an engine change, so be it but I'd be willing to bet you can get away with less than that.

yeah i hope i can find the problem, i just changed my oil like 1500 miles ago and no signs of anything now i have this and they are not small shavings either, the motor still sounds and runs strong so im hoping its something small

Yeah it should. I have plans to change the oil and to have a more in depth look at it Sunday to see what damage there really is
