    Painting cylinder heads?

I just painted my entire 4.8L black with 500 degree paint, was it a bad idea
to paint the heads? Might the paint insulate too much? Thanks

No it looked really good, motor was virtually new. Guess I was just being a dumbass, wanting everything black under the hood. Thanks everyone.

you dont need 1200 degree, i have 500* primer, then regular paint (green) and then 500* clear. just take the heads off and strip them

i'm sure it did look pretty good...the 500* paint is glossier than the 1200* paint...but unfortunately they are correct give it awhile & it'll chip...i'm assuming you pressure washed & degreased the block & heads though...

    .

I cleaned it with B12 real good then over with alcohol, let all of it flash off for a while then painted on a low humidity day. I think I'll just leave it on, I want to get new heads in a few months anyway, hopefully going to start the swap in about a month. I'll try to get pictures this weekend, it does look real good!

i mean that's good with the alcohol and everything but no degreaser? b12 is a carb cleaner...don't know how well that's gonna do for the grime on a block...either way get ready for the chipping
