That's wierd because mine did the exact opposite after my cam. I got a vacuum gauge and it went from 22-24 at stock to about 12-15 now (at idle). I hardly have brakes because of it. I'll try searching and see what I can find out.

That's not opposite that's the exact same. Bigger cams with more duration/lift/overlap cause low idle vacuum and stiff vacuum assist brakes.

Or a Denali like mine...it has hydraulic assist too. The downer from this system is that on low speed maneuvers where you use a lot of steering input and a lot of brake application none of it works that great because your strapping the pump. There may be different pump options.

Or, you can install a vac canister to store vac when you're not needing it for brakes.
We put a healthy cam in my brothers 4.8L, he would have lost brakes if it wasn't for this device that is on the booster. It's a 9" or so electric canister that turns on when the vac is low. It's never come on before, it's never had to, but now it turns on and off, kind of neat on a stock truck.
His is an 04 4.8L longbed, like a work truck, so that's why it probably has one.

Also, my '05 avalanche has hydrb., that's another donor truck you can pick from.

That electric pump was one year only. There were problems with them and the diagnostics were half baked. They are kinda cool though. The swap problems come into play when you realize the booster on these is different for the pressure/vacuum sensor provision and the system requires module control of the pump. It's a benefit for the owners that already have one but I'm not sure someone would want to swap one in. However there are aftermarket electric pump kits as well as reserve canisters.

A friend of mine has a 1200 hp 59 impala . He has a vacuum pump,from Summit i think, It stops great!!
