It is possible that you had a mis-fire occurring, and the unburned fuel entering the cat is why the cat clogged. If your pcm misfire diagnostics are disabled, or "adjusted", you may still have a minor misfire under certain circumstances, but no MIL.

Nelson, if you are reading this, are his misfire diagnostics still at factory settings?

They are over priced junk from what I have found. When I was younger and stupid I bought a set and couldn't get my money back because they had been installed. I got better performance out of the cheapest Champions I had in before I installed the bosch platinums.

all of my problems happened before the new tune. It is running much better now than before. However, it doesn't spin between 10 and 30 like it did when I bought the truck. It's probably because of the new tires I put on because the truck is QUICK!!

Your Diablo tune may have also changed the pcm mis-fire diagnostics. It is a very common "tune" adjustment.

Stick with Iridiums, pricy, but meant for that motor, different plugs aren't gonna give you any power.

If you still have a mis-fire problem, you're giving up performance. Probably economy too. Just because it was swept under the rug, doesn't mean it's not there. At least you don't have to worry about clogging another cat.

true, I think I am alright tho. The truck is quicker than before and I am coming up on 200 miles at about 3/8 of a tank. I am going to put in new plugs probably next week sometime just to do some routine maintenance. got my 180 stat in today too so I guess I will do everything at once.
