the blocks arent the same at all. they arent same width or height. not even same bore or stroke. dont even have same amount of head bolts, dont have same amount of mains. arent even balanced the same. Cams arent even similar. there isnt one damm thing that are similar between the generations besides they from GM. bore spacing isnt the same, exhaust spacing isnt the same. not even the same firing order,a LS has more in common with a ford motor then a SBC. hell a LS uses a fords deck plate, and Ford headers have been used for ls swaps

the LS is its own beast.one main reason they refer to this motor as touched by god.

The LS motor is damn near COMPLETELY different. Sure, they are close in height, bore, stroke, etc... But there is alot of more performance to be had with the 5.7L LS motor VS the 5.7L SBC motor.

i was giving an elementery example to prove my point being that ls motor come with beter flow characteristics as far as head and induction which make them produce more power. of course im aware ls motors are completely different. but none of there differences greatly affects power output potential. both have high quality after markets parts such as heads, cams, induction setups, ect available. and when it comes down to it, they aren't night and day different, saying that the ls motor was touched by god is a stretch, it makes you sound like a ricer guy going on about v-tec.

both motors are stout setups, both capable of high power output. so say a 5.3 is faster sounds extremely ignorant. faster than what? a truck with tbi compared to multi port? a truck that was made 10 years before the 5.3. apply the same technology like beter flowing heads, and multi port injection to the 90s tbi truck and now the 5.3 is slower being that its a heavier truck. to many variable, its a very ignorant statement to try and label one motor as a superior motor in every aspect.

if you think i sound like a ricer with the whole touched by god thing. you must not read much or get out. its posted all over tech. Hell they even have shirts that say that same saying. Not Mention it was in a article saying same thing

A 5.3 in a car is faster then a lt1 in the same car or even a sbc. the GMT-800 trucks are faster and heavier then the GMT-400 models which are lighter

and actually how the LS firing order makes a huge power difference over a traditional SBC firing order. if you dont believe me look up the 4-7 swap

the motors are night and day. now if your saying they both have cams and heads and coolant along with internal combustion...then yes you are right. what yoru saying is a SBC is same as a SBF which is same as a LS which is same as a Mod Ford

I would really like to see what would happen if someone took a SBC and applied the same technology as an LS motor and see what number they put down.
But yeah Quik--you have to admit--it was funny when he said you sound like a ricer talking about V-TEC. It was funny!
Anyway, yes--even changing the firing order out help a SBC put down better numbers... I think someone should do a build on both.

I dunno im kind of partial to the whole lets do money for money kind of modding because if your talking about just engine money modding, then you have to account for putting the power to the ground, which accounts for money to mod the transmission, rearend, etc. I dunno.

Someone lend me 2500 dollars, and let me mod my motor since ive already got a bitchin transmission.
