His engine is a freak! That one was built right. Most stock engines were thrown together by 90 year old gnomes with 10 thumbs.![]()

Bump it up to 10 psi and it will be a whole new truck. With a good tune your 5.3 should live on 10psi for a long time. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Z06 cam would be a nice addition, but not necessary.
