I know what you mean. I'm a machinist with 28 years behind me and its unbelievable the prices companies charge but there is engineering and design time being recovered in the sales price of these kits. Not everyone has access to the tools to do these right. I work in a shop with 5 axis machines, water jets and robotic welders but can't use any of them on personal projects.

For the most part I'm a builder not a buyer unless less theres a unreal deal on one. I see what people are getting for these manifold kits to do a front mount and it blows my mind. I have been a machinist for 6+ years with several years of schooling behind me and my brother is a welding engineer I know know we can make these manifolds in our shop for pennies compared to what Ive seen.
My entire sts kit was 1500. That doesnt include intercooler/meth/transmission that I spent on it
My air filter is right on the end of the turbo. Here is a pic

    hope that helps

i say go with a rear mount. probably better in a dd seeing the turbo temps will stay a lot cooler underneath in the back and its not heating the crap out of everything under the hood.

I like both, I actually had both. The STS is a good system, but I hated the oil pump, other than that the kit fits nice and works great, ask Ducky he has my old kit.
Now the Trick Turbo is one bad Mother. I have that currently on my truck and wow, it performs well. Boost is instant and I mean instant! I have never ridden in a truck that could break the tires loose at 50mph, much less own one until now. Allen has done a great job on my truck. I can't wait to get it back Sat.

Ducky are you only running 5 lbs of boost? Have you tried to make more/ can you make more with the rear system? I hope you don't mind me asking a zillion Questions but what Else have you done (injectors, bigger fuel pump)? I see you retuned, have a meth kit and an intercooler. I was thinking of running 7 to 8 lbs. Is thats safe on a stock motor? Hmmm???
Thanks for all the help guys. Anyone else have a rear setup they want to tell me about?

The 5.3 block is good for up to 10lbs of boost for a while. I am running a 7lb spring in the wastegate, but I rarely hit 7, usually 6 or so.

As far as fuel goes, I only have 42lb injectors ($250) and a walbro 255 pump ($150). Those two things can hold you over on 10lbs easily.

I am going to be upping the boost to 10lbs, but im going to be putting in springs and rods JUST to make sure I dont lean out accidently or anything of the sort. Springs and rods arent that expensive either, or that hard to install.

I dont mind answering questions all day long.

My setup is from Jamest that just posted above, he switched to the front mount because like he stated, more efficient in the spool time. Underhood temps actually arent that bad, especially if you really rig up the CAI.

An intercooler is not imperative if you have meth, but I say both are pretty good investments. I have yet to go over 115 degrees in IAT's in the middle of the day putting around town.

So do you know the model number of your walbro 255 pump? Also What size are my stock injectors and how many pounds do I need?

I don't know the model number, I just called nelsonperformance, and they sent me one the next day. The entire kit, and I dropped it in, in about half a day taking my time. You would probably wanna go with the 42lb injectors for anything less than 10lbs. I even went from longtube headers and a 3" offroad y pipe, back to stock manifolds and a stock y pipe that is wrapped with exhaust wrap

Go ahead and run 10lbs of boost, you'll love it.

Ducky, what are you using to measure the IAT's? Can I use it if I am N/A? Thanks Art...
