    '86 C-30 6.0 LQ-4 Swap question

Hello, new guy here starting on my 6.0 LQ4 into 1986 C-30 swap.

Exellent stuff on this site. Before I started, and as my swap progresses, I've used this site for a lot of information.

I would like to ask one question after an extensive search...(forgive me if this is an obvius qustion I just missed by not looking in the right spots)

What factory exhaust manifolds can I use without notching ther frame rails???

    Will '98 '99 F-body's work?? How about '00 '01 '02 Corvette???

    Thanks, Mike.

    Here's a couple pics...

98 Fbody manifolds on a LS1 in a 86 Silverado here. No troubles.
The Corvette inspired Silverado is now rolling strong!

I think the truck manifolds would have fit my 82 if they didn't have the EGR port on them. I started grinding the port down, but then I just gave up and looked into the f-body manifolds.

1982 Silverado - just an old truck motor I had sitting around the house.

What did you do in the end??? Use the F-body stuff???

I bought a set of F-body's a couple days ago...nobody wants used LS manifolds I guess, I got them for almost nothing.

Thanks for the info...all is appreciated.

Yeah, I ended up using F-body headers.

I mismatched manifolds. One f-body, the other 6.0L truck manifold... only b/c my powertrain sits closer to the radiator by ~4". I had to make a small notch, but not much.

    OK...thanks.

I think I'd only have to trim a little to use both 6.0 truck manifolds on that big C-30 frame...both F-body's fit nicely.

My F-body right side fits nicely into the frame...but it gets real close to the bellhousing on the 4L80E.

One more Q...where are you guys getting the flanges that bolt to the F-body manifolds, to weld your head pipes to???

    Thanks again, Mike.

Mike, you probably got this figured out by now. But if you don't, you should check at the wrecking yards. Our yards tell me that they give up the cat converters and the way they get them is to just hack up the y-pipes and pretty much just leave the flanges connected to the manifolds. So maybe you could check and see if ya'lls are the same. Good luck.

Thanks, that is what I did. Found the left side flange.

Right side I found an aftermarket flange for a truck manifold (very thick) that will work with a little die grinder magic. As I said "THICK"...very easy to weld too.

'97-'98 F-body manifolds worked great on the C-30 1-ton swap. Lots of room.

Thanks for all the help everyone...maybe a couple pics of the finished project in a couple weeks.
