ust brakes is another one of those[aces that will call you later to tell you the vehicle needs $600 dollars of work. and you just want that $99 special.

Now I'm just worried that with them putting in new gears and HOPEFULLY a new install kit, that they arent gonna set those right either. I'm tempted to just ask them to ship me the new gears and install kit and get someone else to do it.

I'd bet on the crush sleeve as stated above. you'll see lines on the ring gear from the pinion walking in and out if this is the case.
check the magnet when they open it up to see how much metal there is. check the bearings by wiping the rollers w/ a clean red shop rag. if you see tiny little shiny specs on the rag the bearings are on their way out.
oem gears cost a little more but they are strong and quiet.

definately pissed off right now. I got the truck back last friday. The guy said he did four heat cycles. I did one or two on the way home. Ive been babying it ever since I got it friday. Saturday and today it was on jack stands while I raised my truck back up to a 3/6 drop. Drove it to austin, and the noise is starting to come back. This is the biggest pain in the ****ing ass ever. I think im going to drop the truck off at austin drivetrain sometime this week. I wonder if I should wait about 300 more miles, change the fluid and see if the noises go away..

well when I was under the truck doing the shackles.. I saw some fluid marks where it looked like it had been flung onto the under side of the truck. SHould I just finish up with the babying of the gears, then change the fluid and see what happens?

Not sure about shops around you but if you're willing to make a drive to Houston there's a guy here who does great work. He did my Eaton posi swap and I reused OEM gears. No noise what so ever and he only charged $250.
