Oil temp sender location?

I want to put a oil temperature gauge on my 5.3L but do not have an external filter or cooler where it would be easy to put it in the line. Where would you guys suggest I put the sender? Drill a hole in the pan and put a fitting in it for the sender? Any suggestion would be most apreciated.

Locate the piece above the oil filter, you can tap that with an 1/8 pipe thread, then you have your oil temp.

This is the easiest and cheapest (if you mess up) to drill and tap.
