    looking for a bell housing

I have a 1987 pickup that is getting a LS1. The problem is I can't find a bellhousing that bolts up to my transmission. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find one? The motor is out of a 1999 corvette and the tranny is a 1979 4 speed

The engine should bolt directly to that transmission, minus one tab on the top right.

The pilot bearing will be your biggest issue. I'm not sure if the crank shaft extension they sell will allow you to use the manual trans.

I did a great deal of research with regards to putting an old style standard onto one of these new engines, and came to the conclusion that advance adapter's kit is the best deal out there.

They have a full kit including a custom flywheel, pilot bearing, centerforce pressure plate and centerforce clutch disk that locates everything in the correct spot to bolt any old style standard up. If I recall correctly, it was approx 700 bucks for the kit, which is a pretty reasonable deal if you look into buying individual parts.

I was planning on installing an NV4500 behind a 6.0L when I was doing this research, but it should directly apply to your SM465
