A couple of times now, the coolant temp my 06 VHO would blast up to the 240 range. I would pull over and let it cool off and then try to head home again. I would repeat this process a couple of more times then before I get home it drops to normal engine temp and runs fine.
At first I thought that maybe the thermostat was getting stuck and it now gives me the opportunity to swap in a 160 thermostat. I then put in the 160 thermostat and now it pegs the temp gauge. I did check that the thermostat opens in hot water and installing this one backwards would be difficult.
The only other thing I can think of is I must have air in the cooling system. How do you burp the cooling system? Has anybody else had this problem?
