    Adding a 2nd wastegate?

    I am starting getting my hotside together on my (re)-build. My set up is 10.3:1 forged 370 with a PT88 with a KB racing log and crossover. I have the one 38mm waste gate that came with my kit and thinking that it won't handle the new turbo. I am wanting to just add another 38mm instead of spending 450+ on a 60mm gate. Just wanting to know if this a good way to go. Seem like more surface area the better. Let me know. Thanks

    If it were me, I'd just buy the 60mm gate and try to recover some of the cost by selling the 38mm gate. I can't imagine trying to get an accurate and consistent boost level with TWO wastegates. Plus, it seems like two 38mm gates might bleed off too much. I know this is not what you wanted te hear, but sometimes you gotta pay to play

    I don't see why it would really hurt adding another wastegate. Just Y the lines. I could see it having the same effect. On the other hand if you can sell the one you have that's just money towards a 60mm.

    I bet the 38 will be fine unless your planning on running 5 psi. I would try it anyway before spending the money. It wont spike, will just build pressure in the high rpm range... just a little creep. then u will know that you need more. just my .02

    U might wanna just see how the 38mm gate does.
    We had a truck come thru the shop with a large turbo and a 38mm wg and it was just fine.
    Upgraded a t60 to a mP45 and left the 38mm wg; it was fine too, no spikes or inconsistent boost readings.

    plenty of ppl use a pt88 and dual 38mms. seems as the popular trend now using twin gates. if your using the KB kit and the WG is below the truck then if possible add the other 38 to the neck of the manifold if possible but since thats sch 40, then add the other gate on the driver side of the cross over where it routes over under the trans.

    to help with creep issues with the 38 dump the gate to the atmosphere as the Back pressure in the downpipe may effect the gate from operating properly. if your going to run dual gates and run them "quieter" then come off each gate with 1 1.5 tubing and step it up asap to 1 3/4 then meet both of these into a single 2.5" tube and run it as its own exhaust. this will eliminate any boost creep issues and sound pretty steathy
