    Does anyone know why GM went back to drum brakes in the rear of there pickups?

    I heard part of it was the e brake did not hold or something like that. The funny thing is i have not had a prob with mine.
    Tattoos, Kustoms, Chops, Guns and Pits..........Need I say more? AFTERLIFE KUSTOMS.

    My ebrake will not hold my truck on a hill.

    2002 ECSB, Nelson Tune, LS1 electric fans, 145A alternator, K&N FIPK, 160º T-stat, TB coolant bypass, Corvette servo, 4 headlight mod, blue LED gauge cluster

    That is strange. A guy i work with has a 99 and it works fine also. I wonder if it is one of those luck of the draw type things.

    i dont kknow man. i was like wtf&#33;&#33; when i saw my truck had rear drum. they call it a dynamic rear drum brakes. it acts like ABS discs but its drum instead..cheaper i guess..lol

    no probs with my disc either, i think they went to drums cause they changed the rear end design slightly and the current disc set up would not work. thats the story any way on the 05 2 wheel drive SS according to chevyhighperformance.

    r u telling me the 05 SS has drum? aww man ..now thats bad. i would be too ticked off that i paid 40 grand for this truck and it has drums..

    yes its true, i think only the SS 2 wheel drive has drum rear, and the awd has disc all around.cause the awd has the "weaker" rear cause it splits the power to all wheels, and g m thought that rear would not hold up with two wheel drivre so they re designed the rear but ran out of time or sumthin on designing disc brakes for this new rear .

    The &#39;05 ss 2wd and the &#39;06 ss 2wd are basicly a VHO with extra plastic and a bigger sticker. The VHO and the SS are built on the same factory line and the extra peices cost you more....... Oh, the SS has a 108 speed limiter, now that might be worth the extra &#036;... my &#39;05VHO has the drums and I won&#39;t complain yet.
