anyone had or heard of driveability problems with 2008 Vortec Max?
My dad recently bought a new Vortec Max and had not been happy with the driveability. He has taken the truck to the dealership twice, first time for a "Driveability" touch up on the computer, and the second time for a "Transmission Adjustment."
He says that neither fixed the problem, and didnt really even make a difference.
He says the truck feels like it is bogged down uner acceleration, until about 4k when it screams up to the redline. He says it does not downshift properly when he tries to pass or merge onto the highway, it bogs, then hits around 4k and takes off.
Someone told him it might be becuase it is going down to 4 cylinders when he is cruising, and something is wrong and not letting it kick back to 8 cylinders quick enough.
Anyone heard of this or experienced this? Would a custom tune fix it?
We finally got him talked into buying Chevy, and now he says he wished he had his Ford back..lol
Thanks Guys

Send him over to Nelson Pperformance to get a custom tune. That should take care of it.

yeah probably some sort of torque management that delays his trucks acceleration. like foggy said a tune will fix it.

From everything I have read this is because of the PCM programming for emissions control by GM. The article I read said that the PCM won't go into PE mode at WOT for 4 seconds, which is why you get the spike in power at 4k.
A custom tune should definitely take care of the problem.

I have a 08 NNBS w/ Vortec Max and was kinda having that bogging down issue also.....I blamed it on the DBW!!!
