5.3 or 6.0 into 4.8 just a few ?'s, newb needing confirmation

Sorry I think I might have posted this int he wrong place last time:

I just desimated my 2001 4.8 4x4 about a month ago with 167,xxx miles on it and now I need a new motor. I've been reading about a 1000 different threads just trying to get confirmation about what I'm thinking.

1) are the 4.8's, 5.3's, and 6.0's all the same on the outside? bolt right in?

2) what about wiring? Are all the connectors in the same spot along with wires being long enough to reach? Anything I need to watch for?

3) What is the best thing to do with the ECU?

4) Anything in the future I should be watching out for or I should upgrade now while the motor is out?

ALL THIS INFO IS TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE
1. 4.8&#39;s and 5.3&#39;s. Identical. 6.0 is a dif story. Most of the motor mounts on an LQ4 a different. A 4L60E Tranny will not work with a LQ4. Have dif harnesses. It may work with the LQ9. Most 6.0L have oil coolers built into the radiators, which most 5.3L and 4.8L have oil cooler block off plates. You could take the blockoff plate off your 4.8 and put it on the new 6.0.

Interesting... My Yukon came with the 5.3, which has the lines running to the auxilary cooler, to the 28" radiator, then back to the trans. I have a buddy who has an &#39;00 Silvy (RCSB) Z71 that has the same setup (stock). Could it just be different with the LQ4s? I&#39;ve always been told to run an aftermarket cooler for trans fluid. I will say that the fluid gets pretty hot under load.

Be prepared to get your transmission beefed up. Also, budget some money for a tune since your 4.8L tune will work but it will run very lean. Nelson Performance can set you up with a tune for the 5.3 or 6.0 engine. Use your stock 4.8L harness unless the 5.3 or 6.0 engine comes with a 4L60E harness.

Red, you guys just did everything wrong when you swapped that 4.3L out for the 6.0L.

Hey Man.... lets be nice...It ait all the same. I know for a fact. The LQ4 seems to be a little more complicated than the LQ9. I.E. transmission harness.

Not to be difficult here but....

4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 have the same external dimensions AND mounting locations.

The 4L60E will bolt up to a 6.0 and can be made to work with it.

That&#39;s not difficult, that&#39;s accurate. Too many I know run the same 4L60E from 5.3s in their 6.0 swaps.

Thats hard for me to see unless its a built 4l60e. That tranny wouldnt last forever in a 6.0. The torque is way to much for from the LQ4. Just ask allstar. His didnt last 30 Miles.

I agree with the fact that the 4l60 not wanting to hold up after too long to the 6.0, but i wouldnt necessarily use Allstar as an example. I mean shit was going wrong in that thing left and right, it wasnt even properly tuned after starting. But i mean with the proper tune the 4l60e should be fine with small things done to it. slight bolt ons etc.

Reds right my 2000 6.oL has a thick flange on the rear of the crank. GM had a brain fart when they did this. It will all fit as Red has mentioned.
