I thought I would spread some knowledge I garnered over the past week or so. It happened like this:
I was driving home from work and realized the blower motor was running on high. I turned the A/C off and it continued to blow. I got home and shut the ignition off AND IT CONTINUED TO BLOW! I was a little bit weirded out at this point. I popped the hood, found the right fuse, pulled it, and it finally stopped. I started doing some research and found out the 2003-2007 (early, I assume) trucks had the same type of issues (Google Search: HERE). As you can see in the Google search, there was a GM Service Bulletin covering this problem (more on this in a bit). The SB covers only manually switched controls, where mine is the automatic version. I did read on a few sites where they are saying there are people with the auto version which had the same issue. I went out on a limb and ordered the part from Amazon (cheapest supplier at $52.08 shipped). It installed with minimal fabrication (had to solder the new leads into the wiring harness) and all was golden.
The real reason I am bringing this to everyone's attention is this: For the vehicles listed in the SB, the coverage of the repair is for 10 years/150,000 miles (from original in-service date). If you own one of the listed vehicles and it is exhibiting the behavior (either blows all the time, even with ignition off, or does not blow on one or more of the fan settings), you can get the resistor replaced for free. This is irregardless of ownership history.
