    Ran at the track..pretty pleased!

Today me and some buddies went racing at the track and I ended up with back to back 14.9's at 91. I cut a 2.071 60' and a 2.086 60' and from what I've read that should have put me into the high 13-low 14 area. It was about 50* with a 15mph headwind (just my luck, couldn't have been a tailwind haha) It seemed to pull pretty good throughout the entire rpm range and launching at 2800 and slicks really makes a difference! Tell me if I'm way off about my 60' times and what I "should" have ran.

You can't tell how fast you "should" be with a 60'. There are way too many variables especially with a truck being much harder to hook than a car.

All things considered, nothing seems out of the ordinary. Your trap speed is too low to even think about 13s at this point, and the 60' isn't bad, but nothing to write home about.

I don't mean to come off negative, but all the variables to your timeslip add up. I don't see you dropping more time without a bigger change somewhere.

Good work Mike! Now that you know where you stand--lets work on getting lower in the 14s. First off, I am surprised that your truck was in the high 14s. 2.0 60' times aren't bad for a few first time runs in that truck.

I would concentrate on getting that bigger cam in there along with some valve springs to accommodate the lift. Your other boltons look pretty good. I would look into purchasing some UD pulleys. Those are really the only other boltons I would consider besides as set of efans.

Its also a shame that you can't be closer to Nelson to try and get a live tune. Since you have a decent list of mods, it would be beneficial for a live tune to be administered--to try and make everything work to their potential.

Keep crackin at it...you'll get there.

Thanks tyler, yeah I already have money set aside for another cam I'm between the tr220 and the tsp 220...which one would be better? haha I'm puttin the underdrives on my xmas list as well as some bigger injectors. The reason for the injectors is because I want to possibly spray this by next spring. I'm thinking as long as I have the engine tore down for the cam swap, might as well drop the pan and put some ARP rod bolts in it and then a 125-150 shot. I have a buddy with a srt4 neon that ran 12.81@107...he's my target haha. I really wish there wasn't such a strong headwind because that killed my topend. As far as the tuning part I found a place in Chicago called modern muscle and I've heard they do very good work, so I might see about having allen leave my pcm unlocked and get them to dyno tune it. Just my plans. Thanks for the input everyone...especially you tyler, you always have great suggestions and are willing to help!

Well, if you are gunna spend money on a cam and springs, go ahead and do the Texas Speed 224R with a 112 LSA and with Comp 918 springs. UD pulleys and 42 lb injectors would also be a nice addition.

I have simular mods with a different cam and this weekend ran my best run. I run in 4wd and had the same 60ft times. Get that bigger cam and you will be happy.

I'll check out the 224R now that you mention it and see about it. is that too big for my 3000 or no? My winter plans now is a new cam, 42# injectors, ARP rod bolts, the PSC stage 2.5 heads, ARP head bolts, and possibly put this thing on the bottle. This only thing is the heads say on the website they raise compression to 10.75-1 and I'm afraid that's too much compression for juice..am I wrong?

they will lower your compression on a 5.3. that is the compression on a 5.7. they end up have a 62cc chamber when they are done with the heads. If you do get them I would have them milled to raise your compression and a tighter heads gasket made for your bore to decrease squwelch and raise compression a little bit more.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.
