    PT88 build, 6" intercooler!!

We just wrapped up our latest custom build. Customer has a 427 and tells us he wants to make alot of power. lol. So we desided to go with a Precisions PT88. This unit is alot larger then our standard stuff. Luck has it, fits perfect in with our standard header location. The Precision turbo uses a 3" outlet, that changed a little of our layout. All 3" tubing up to the maf location then starts to open up to the the 3.5". The throttle body tube we had some bent with extra long legs, this cut down our weld time and just looks better.
The 6" thick intercooler was needed to match the alot of power spec I was given. It fits in the front area like our other kits, but we did have to tilt the IC a little to get the 3" tubing to line up and get around the sway bar.

The 3.5" DP was an usuall lay out but it clear all the AC and can be installed rather easily.
This set up with good tuning, and engine combo should make over a 1000hp to the ground.

So if you are looking for something custom we can build it for you. Just drop me a PM to talk about your combo.

    Rick

IC always has some form of backpressure, that is what allows it to work. But the design will be in tolerance for the HP goals.

ive done alot of research on this turbo since i bought it last fall. i thought of a 427 and every rep shot it down. it will work on a 427 but your looking at low revs. that 3.5" downpipe as you can see is already necking a turbo down from its 4" flange.

Oh I see what your saying. The engine and its final rpm are in the customers hands. We have some data logging software coming soon, so I can do lots of BP testing. The final outcome really depends on the rpm range and how you want to push the set up. a 88 on a 370 in a truck I think would be laggy and bla. We would do a 76 or even a 70 depending on application and location in the country.

I think the 3.5 will be fine. The back pressure will not be an issue, but does rely on him not running a flowmaster style muffler for sure and a large exhaust. I am betting the final rpm will be around 6600 rpms or so.
