If you change your MAP sensor to a 2 or 3 bar MAP then the computer reads boost and can change accordingly. You also need the computer flashed to reed the new sensor and know what to do with it. Right now our 1 bar stock MAP doesn't read boost so I guess we trick the PE tables into running rich for boost. 1BAR=14.5PSI. The 1 bar MAP reads full vaccuum to 0PSI or 1 BAR. 2BAR reads full vaccuum to 14.5. 3 bar reads full vaccuum to 29PSI. BTW I'm no tuning expert and maybe Allen can chime in.

The 1/2/3 bar OSs come with boost enrichment tables, help tremendously with fueling under boost. Check out this link.....

Scroll down the page and it explains all the differences.
I am pondering going 1 bar SD when I get my wideband back from Innovate, just to get rid of the MAF.

Sure, anytime you can get the fuel/timing maps more accurate the better. I want to do this and get a speed density tune to eliminate the MAF.

The maf isn't necessarily one bar, but it allows more fuel to be added as airflow is increased. Once you run out of the maf table, there isn't a way to add fuel, ideally. So, one typically turns toward the pe table.
There's a problem with that though. Your truck can be at 8psi in second gear at 5000rpms, and 4th gear can be at 8psi at 2500rpms.
See the problem, the stock pcm maf tuning doesn't really allow for you to tune a/f ratio under boosted conditions. This is just one example, but that's one of the best reasons to switch over imo.
Also, keep in mind the maf is very forgiving and is a lot easier to tune for.
With sd tuning, it takes a lot of patience to tune it correctly! I've seen a few tunes "sd tunes" that just plain ran like shit. They were at low boost levels so we just maf tuned them, they worked out just fine.
Also, sd tuning has to be done hands on, unless logs are sent back and forth.

hope this helps,
allen

Don't kid yourself...Allen has already mentioned it to me, and I am only at 8 psi.
Gone, but not forgotten!
