Ok, so this is a problem that Ive been having for quite some time. On my other vehicle, the 73 Monte, the fuel gauge will work intermittently depending on the temperature outside. What I mean is, if it is over 85 or so outside, the gauge works fine (I think) and moves around like it should. However when the temperature drops, the gauge seems to freeze wherever it happens to be and stays there until the next warm snap. My initial idea was a bad sender, (gets warm, expands and has contact, cools off and contracts and breaks contact) but I replaced it tonight and the gauge is still pegged on full. tank has about three gallons left in it and its a 25 gallon tank. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. My next step is pulling the cluster and seeing if there is anything going on with the gauge itself.
