Thumbs up 140,000 mile LS1 engine leak down results

expected the worst, and got the best a little history behind the motor. previous owner ran this motor with a 237/242, .603"/.609", 113 LSA and a 15o shot of nitrous in his 99 camaro.

since ive had it, its had a 226 cam with patriot stage 2 heads and a 231/239 .617/.623 111+2 lsa cam with a 150 shot. this motor has had atleast 200lbs of nitrous blown through it.

and for the leak down results...

    cylinder 2 7% cylinder 1 7%
    cylinder 4 5% cylinder 3 8%
    cylinder 6 7% cylinder 5 6%
    cylinder 8 7% cylinder 7 9%

i am happy to say the least. it just shows how much proper maintenance and a good tune goes. i would expect these numbers froma 50,000 mile motor...not mine! props to charlie wheatley and allen nelson who are the only 2 to touch this motor. i did find one issue though. i guess this is what i get for running about 10 bottles of nitrous through on the same set of plugs plugs lol.

i would like to see it too. ive had my motor open a few times and it still looks great on the inside. cross hatches are still there and theres no lip at the top of the cylinder bore. zero sludeg on the top or bottom end. about once a year before race season i will run some seafoam through the engine. i dont know if it helps or not but the guts of my motor sure are pretty for it's age.

now watch me spin a bearing next week

When I go to do my cam swap I might just do a leak down and see what happens. I need to run some seafoam trough here soon before I tear it down.
