Allison 5 or 6 spd. swap

Anyone know anything about maybe swapping an Allison 5 or 6 spd into a 1500? Is it possible with electronics and tuning? i did a search for it but found no info on here about it. My engine is almost finished, and though i have a fully built 60E, i know its not gonna stand up to a 408(OOPS...421) on about 18-20psi. So i would like to address this issue BEFORE i destroy a perfectly good trans. I have access to a stock 80E from another 2005 but a 6 spd is just F'in cool... Is there anybody out there who has done the allison swap or knows any shops that specialize in this trans behind a gas engine?

Do they know much about the technical end of making this trans work for my application? i know the way it shifts a diesel isn't going to be useful... since my engine will be making peak torque about 3500rpm higher than a duramax. I know it came behind the 8.1.. but i have driven a buddy's 2006 2500 with the 8.1 and Allison 6 spd and it needs some tweaking to keep up with the shifting of the 60e i have now...

I just called Suncoast..... He pretty much told me they could build a diesel compatible trans to hold up to about 1000lbft. But not a gas trans? wtf? Since when is a built gas turbo engine harder on a trans than a built diesel? He said find a way to mate a RH47 dodge to it and be 100% reliable everyday... i'll think i'll just build the 80E and use it... Thanks mic for the suggestion though!

Dont forget the allison comes in the HD trucks which have a factory 2" body raise to make that transmission fit. Those things are huge and can handle a buttload of power. My friend has one in his 07 Dmax putting down 1300 rwtq and 600 hp with out any single issue. I think a good built 80E will suit you just fine and wont take alot of extra mods to work.

I have a single 76 right now... and i'm debating on a single 80mm i found on craigslist around my area. Maybe one of the S376's or something. I don't wanna go too large because i tow with my 1500. And i want decent fuel econ. on the hwy. My engine is 8.8:1 with dished mahle's and callies rods and crank. The crank is offset ground a tad.. so i had to use a smaller journal rod, hence the "421ci". I bought a set of 317 heads. This motor originally had the iron heads on it. if anyone has ANY suggestions or input i would love to hear. I am still debating on things like bigger valves in the heads and injector sizing. I'm considering the professional products typhoon intake with fuel rails. And the cam isn't decided yet either... This truck is a HEAVY Z71 ext cab with full toolbox, full backseat, and 33's with 4.10's....

The professional products intake has leaking problems. There is nothing wrong with the factory intake. Many are making big numbers with it.
