    shift linkage prob

Ok i just gout my new trans in and it went in just fine except the shift linkage. When we first put it in it was real hard to get it into neutral and i cant get it into first with the shift lever but it would go into each gear perfect and firmly if u did it on the trans itself. and now i cant even get it into park with the shift lever but can still do it on the trans itself. So basicaly i was wondering if anyone knew of a adjustment for the cable itself. PLEASE HELP!! I dont have a very good e-brake.

The adjuster is about half way up the cable under the floor where the driver's seat is. Most likely the cable sheath is broken right behind the bracket bolted to the trans.
