    Talking need help picking cam

i'm not looking for anything extreme, i just want more power throughout the entire rpm range. i have a lifted 03 Z71 5.3L. it has an intake, exhaust, shorty headers, throttle body spacer, granatelli mass air sensor, nology wires and plugs and superchips. some time this year i'm gonna change my gear ratio to 4.56 and be running 35'' tires. i'm running 33's and 3.73 gears for now. this is my dd and i tow and offroad on occasion.

You need a 6L. Put a cam in it while you're swapping engines. That truck is too big for a 5.3.

Ok first off here's what you need before the cam. besides getting a 6L as well
    1. Loose the shorty headers... they are crap, get Long tubes.
    2. Throttle body spacer is worthless, all it does is whistle.
    3. Granatelli MAF is a rip off, no dyno gains, just messes with the a/f readings.
    4. Nology wires are a very expensive version of MSD or Taylor. You just wont see any performance gains over the msd or Any other wire for that matter.
    5. Sell the Superchips... not effective.
ok. Now get either drive to Sanantonio and get a live tune from here Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability Or order a Mail order tune. $375 will get you free re tunes and 35hp and about a full second off your 1/4 mile times.
Best advise I can give you for a cam depends on if you go Forced induction or not. The 220/220 .581/.581 112lsa is a good cam for N/A. Get that and a Nelson tune with a 3000 stall, and you'll be golden.

Texas Speed 220/220 Camshaft Thats the cam. As for it working with your tune, I would get LT's and ORY first then the cam, then order a mail order tune. Then make a trip to Nelsons to get a live tune done.

So if someone was planning on going with a SC would there be a good cam that would run N/A then really shine when the SuperCharger was installed.

Or is it just best to get the camshaft with the SuperCharger?

Hey, jar_head 20, These guys know some things about making power, but they don't know everything. You've got a decent list of minor mods, and now you're looking for more, but nothing too radical yet. I think you should look at GM Performace Parts Hotcam. It works very well in the 5.3, and if you upgrade to the 6.0, it still works well. GM Performance 12480033 - GM Performance Parts Gen 3 Hot Cam Kits - summitracing.com

i put a 212/218 .522/.529 114LSA in a truck very similar to your, big tires tall gears and tuned it with a crappy handheld...the truck responded very well to it. sounded good too
