    6.0 upgrades

Ok so I recently got a 6.0 out of a 2000 3/4 ton I plan to swap into my 85 shortbox, I have come across a intake of a ls3 camaro with fuel rails and intake bolts for fairly cheap and am wondering it this intake will work on the 6.0l or do I have to change heads. Any input will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks Stephen

You have to change heads. If I was building a 6.0 it would definitely have ls3 heads on it! They flow crazy numbers.

Swapping to the LS3 intake requires a few things, but foremost would be switching to a square port head. Like Jansen said they flow awesome and it's a great flowing intake manifold as well. In addition I would get a big cam to take advantage of the new heads. Do you know what heads the 6.0 has now? If they are iron heads you will want/need to swap your heads for aluminum ones even if you don't go with the ls3 intake.

I am not sure what the heads that are on it right now are, basically I am still in the process of pullin the motor from the truck when ever I get spare time,
So basically if I can get a set of ls3 heads to go with the intake , go for it, I'm not looking for a real power house just somethin I can drive, and still have some fun with it

If that's the case, mild cam (224-232 range), pushrods, stock set of newer LS P&P'd heads (do your research on which ones will give you your desired CR), NNBS or TBSS intake and manifold, and a 3000-3400 converter. You can easily pull 375-400 HP out of just swapping those items.

If its a iron head 6.0 you better pull the 4l80 as well because the iron head 6.0s have a .400" longer crankshaft at the rear and the won't work with a 4l60 I've just run into this myself

You can swap flywheels and be just fine.

Why won't it? Did you use the flat style flexplate or dished?
