Are you converting to 2wd? The camaro transmission would have to have the output shaft switched to work with the transfer case. Your stock z71 transmission can be used with the LS1 engine if you get a flat flywheel and adapter. The rest is just marrying the LS1 harness to the stock harness. NelsonPerformance can modify the LS1 harness to simplify the process to 4 wires or so. Check out the stickied conversion posts for more details. You'll need electric fans, motor mounts, convert the fuel lines to fit the LS1...

    transmissioncenter.net , crateenginedepot.com , sdparts.com , take your choice. I have a spare but I'm saving it as a backup.

Oh yeah, you'll need the longer bolts that go with the adapter, too.

PNs I used to run the old style 80e with the LQ4 setup...

PM Richard Campbell, he just finished a 97 Z71 and had a custom transfer case/tranny built for it.

Will The Fly Wheel And Spacer Fit The 96 4l60e?
What About The Bell Housing Can I Swap It To So It Bolts To The Oil Pan. What About The Converter?
If All This Fits The 96 4l60e Would I Even Need The Flywheel?

The flywheel may not be necessary but the adapter and bolts will be because the LS type crankshaft is shorter. You need the extension to make it longer to marry up to the old style flywheel and converter. The old style 60e doesn't have a bolt on bell housing so you cannot change that. I ran an old style 80e and it was only held to the engine with 5 bolts and that wasn't an issue.
