Really? Please quit. You've obviously never used 4-lo, or at least payed any attention. I can barely hit 5mph in 4-lo and 1st, that would be preety useless.

It should have had a 4l80 stock. As to whether it's still there....
I'd get it built up and upgraded to the newer internals. Full roller and 5 pinion planets should last a long, long time.
I've never heard of being able to do it yourself, but I could be wrong. However, if you could do it yourself do you think GM would have wasted the time on it?
As far as I know, you need a techII....
word
Go at least 4.10's. You'll kick yourself for doing 3.73's. And 4.10's really won't kill your mileage, since I'm assuming you're stomping on it now anyways if you're asking for bottom end.
I wouldn't advise doing the swap for mileage.
However, if you want to talk your wife into the swap the 1-2mpg increase can't hurt your argument. All the little things turn into quite a bit more $...
There is so much wrong with this. Please stop.
OP: I'd seriously consider a supercharger. Nothing like boost to launch with. A 5.3 with a 4l80 is going to need deep gears to not feel anemic....
Do the newer lines have a metric fitting? You could also just get some braided line with an fittings.
I'd run one myself. Oil should last longer cool. I'd be more worried about oil break-down than...
What ended up being the problem when it wouldn't start?
And for a 95 it looks clean. I don't know why but even all the factory trim looks cool.
In my experience an 8.1 does the same on fuel, so you can take that out. None of them are going to get better than 12 without a lot of very careful driving in a very light truck so I wouldn't worry...
Use a multi-meter and measure the sending unit values (out of the tank, so you can move the float) and then check it again in-tank to make sure it's moving. Then you'll need to read the original one...
10blt would be 10 bolts holding the differential cover on, ring gear size is 8.875" IIRC. It could have a 9.5" ring gear 14 bolt also. I'll second the 3.73 or 4.10's. If you have anything but flat...
truck came out looking good. Need a set of cal-tracs to hook it up?
I'm waiting for the turbo build, can't ever have to much power
I'm wondering how that trans and t-case are going to hold up to the power? I've always heard horror stories about the cyclone/typhoons destroying their t-cases with stock power.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you install the shift kit? Another valve-body out of a core tranns is only a few $$$ if you wanted to change back, which I doubt you would. I really haven't seen any...
I'd use the 261, as it's bigger/beefier. It should also match the spline count of the 80's output shaft and bolt right up.
What are these range switches you're referring too? They're both 2.72:1...
www.alldatadiy.com is great for that. Google for a coupon code, i got a year for $10 or so awhile back.
I'd run whatever is on the motor. The only reason to change is with a custom pan and dry sump system.
Damn, that looks a lot nicer than my CCLB.
Did you ever find anything for headers?
I just got done doing an intake gasket and the updated electronic injectors in my CC, and it made me realize...
I bought a $15 strap wrench from sears (make sure it's a large one, I grabbed the biggest one they had) to hold the pulley and then used a big crescent wrench. In my experience the belt doesn't...
2 or 4wd?
I've been looking for my 88, and it's been impossible for a 4wd. Seems like everyone uses schoenfields for 2wd's.
why not run the oil cooler?
Don't need to drain it, just let it idle with the cap off and watch the fluid. Sometimes it helps if you give the upper hose a couple good squeezes to push some air out and suck some fluid up. My...
You'll have to move your trans support crossmember around since the 80E is longer. Get the correct pin-out for the connector and when you have the PCM tuned let the tuner know what year and trans it...
Looks good so far!
Are those denali/esky seats? And is that the magnaflow with internal x-over?
Did you swap the trans along with the motor? And is there any way possible to put the motor mounts in backwards?
After reading your other thread, I'd venture to guess you either have the wrong...
