the difference between the 4.8 and 5.3 is in the stoke. the bore is the same. to compression will be differenent with the same pistons, but they should work.

your truck is pretty big, I would surely choose the 6.0L before a heads/cam 5.3.
a cam only 6.0 will put out good number and a **** ton of torque.

speaking of getting all over the place. that white/gold crew cab was ALL OVER the place.
it was a strong cross wind...but was leaning towards a bit of a head wind most of the day.
congrats ducky. that thing is going to fly with the converter.

4.8 RCSB 3.73 G80, HPTuners and 3000 stall. everything else is stock. 4495 race weight.
I dont think its possible to get stock 5.3 compression from 317's just by milling. 243's are possible but its better to just work the factory heads over, but there's not even a lot of gains in that...
