That's actually a darn good idea... As of now my coolant gauge still shows a reading even with the key off. Talk about irritating.
I considered moving the stock sensor to another location, but thought it would be nice and convenient to use the camaro 3 wire... Lookin at my gauge it says I'm around 30-40 degrees hot.
Does anyone know off hand what resistor value is used when using a camaro 3 wire coolant sensor to read off the factory dash gauge? The truck is a 1990 C1500... this is one of the last gauges I need...
I ended up tapping into the Low/High VSS signal going to the ECU, I havent had a chance to test it yet... But I think it's going to work.
Tapped the output from the ECU to the two wires for the speedometer on the cluster, when driving the gauge sweeps around and doesn't function properly. Has anyone had any luck tapping the...
Tested all the wiring again and found an intermittent ground that would cause the engine to run with the key in the off position, fixed the ground and the ignition functions as normal.
Hey there guys, got the LQ4 installed, primed, and managed to do the initial start and check for leaks. When I tried to turn the truck off however the key off wouldn't kill the ignition. I had to...
Is the plug identification the same throughout the model years? My truck didn't have a drac module.
Just about finished my lq4/4l80e swap and have the last bits of wiring to finish. Does anyone have a diagram for the cluster wiring harness? I need to find the speedo wires, and I don't want to tap...
I should have mentioned I'm using a 4L80E, all I have off the Nelson harness is a single wire for the speedo. I was hoping I could run that wire straight into the cluster with no problem.
Art, happen to remember what color the wire was? IIRC I have a purple and yellow twisted pair that on my 1990.
I ended up using the stock plug off my 1990 since it only used the center wire for the oil pressure gauge at the back of my 2003 LQ4, and I ran a three wire Camaro water sender and tapped the third...
Looking for a cluster from a 91 that has the tach. There's a couple out there, but none local to me.
Lemme know what you guys have!
Thanks again!
I haven't had to change the plugs yet as I'm still in progress of swapping over, but I just noticed that they are within close proximity to the firewall. Perhaps I'm thinking about it too much......
Just wondering, how are you guys changing plugs on the rear two cylinders? My plugs are darn close to the back firewall, and the schoenfeld headers aren't helping for access.
How do you guys do...
From what it looks like the VSS wire and the fuel pump relay are the only two wires needed through that bulkhead, there is also a larger (10 ga) power wire that goes through there as well for the...
Thanks for the information fellas, I'm going to remove the harness from that side of the firewall as well.
Does anyone know what wires go through that portion of the firewall, or is that just PCM...
Thanks Art! I'm going to look at removing the passenger side bulkhead as well.
Working on my swap and thought there would be enough room for the factory ECU and the LS to reside in the same location. After taking the dash apart I noticed that there isn't, and if I replace the...
That's exactly what I'm going to do. The dimensions on the rod is almost 1" longer than necessary, and the shift selector rod from the 80e extends out that far as well, due to the NSS being in the...
Clean setup, I would love to put the LS ECM inside the cabin but I can't find a suitable place to hide it.
No worries about a front shaft, its going into a 2wd C1500.
I have the lq4/4l80e in the truck, on new mounts, and was looking at options on installing the relays and wiring harness that I received from Nelson Performance. I'd like to keep the bay as clean as...
That's correct, the linkage that goes from the frame to the transmission is about a inch too long. I was thinking about shortening the rod, and seeing how that goes.
