VATS will get you no start! The 99 4.8 PCM still thinks it's in the same vehicle but with some random voltage from the key trying to make it pass. Even with relearn a million times over done...
Does your cluster have a digital odometer or analog? Do you have a message center? Is it working?

Look more into the I/P plugs under the hood, they are the C100 and C152. Those plugs ultimately control what info goes from motor and PCM to instrument panel.
What year motor did you swap in?
03+ oil pres sen all 3 circuits went straight to PCM, the PCM sent info through serial data.
I'll check out tomorrow. Ya 03+ had 3 circuits; a tan/wht pres sen sig, blk low ref, and grey +5v. 02 prior had a tan/wht circuit straight to I/P via C100 plug. What about inline 5v to 12v conversion?

Took the blk/wht ground pin#4 from the DP, grounded it, I/P lit right up! I'm still concerned why I have to ground off the DP.
So the good news, I sent PCM out for reflash and removed VATS. Plugged it back in vehicle started right up runs like a champ. I'll check the grounds in the AM and report bank ASAP. Thanks for help it...
