Yes, you'll still need the crank spacer.
Th400 works fine. Just need the flexp plate spacer and bolts. I ran one behind a 5.3. Worked great.
Welcome! Get as much as you can from your donor. I like the 00-02 trucks. Get the trans while you're there if you can so you don't have to worry about flexp plate spacers and the like.
