Just wondering what you guys think about the SS.

Does it need more power? Better Looks? Wheels? What about the interior?

IMO, it needs to come with about 420hp, lowered 1" all around, specific body panels not snap ons, "SS" stamped into the panels somewhere, probably where the "454" was on the earlier trucks, a deeper exhaust note, a buldge in the hood or cowl or if they could get a scoop to look right, smaller rear bumper.

I know it's meant for an all around truck that hauls your friends, hauls butt, and tows a boat.

Just something to make it stand out just a tad more.

Other than that , it's an awesome truck.

on a side note, i asked my wife if i could trade the tahoe in for an SS, she said , trade yourself in for one, lol.
I'll have to work that one a little bit more.

later,

allen

I like the whole package except for the power. It should come from the factory with different exhaust and a Radix. Other than that I love the level of comfort and the looks.

HAHAHA, well this ought to be interesting:

4L80E to begin with, that has a 2.70:1 first gear at least
9.25" front diff
9.5" rear axle

Larger brakes to go with those 20" wheels.

I'd prefer a 400hp 6.0 HP but that way detuned 345hp will suffice.

Everything else can be left to myself and the good ol' aftermarket.

Has anyone seen the SS concept regular cab?? It's in August's Truck Trend Mag.

Specs: 6.0 liter
t-56 trans.
LS6 cam & heads
5link coil-sprung rear
headers
higher compression
3.73 gears
395 hp @ 5500rpm
409 TQ @ 4500rpm

Now if Chevrolet would just build the damm thing!!!!! [If you build it, they will come.]

IF THEY DO, I'LL BE THE 1ST. IN S.A. ON THE LIST...

But the bad news bench seat, man. windows, and no power steering. I guess all power to the rear wheels. {not so bad.}

Yeah, that poor thing is about to get its a$$ seriously whoooooped by Dodge!

Don't know if y'all have seen the numbers on the SRT-10 yet, but it has: 500hp, 525lb-ft, six speed T56 Tremec, Dana 60 rear with 4.10's and an LS, 22 inch rims, 15" rotors in front, 14" rotors in back, near 1g cornering force, over 1g deceleration force, and 150mph top speed.

Yessirree Bob.

But, if you took the totally stock SS the way it is today, and add 1 new power toy; put a Kenne Bell, or a Radix, or someone else's supercharger on it from the factory, you would have a a bit more competition on your hands. hmmm, maybe not.

All wheel drive so the truck gets up and goes without tire smoke unlike the Dodge. The 150MPH top end is a bit of a stretch in a truck like the SS, but it will tow a boat unlike the Dodge, and you can use it as a work truck unlike the Dodge and take your friends with you unlike the Dodge while you beat up on almost anything else on the road.

Do you see a pattern here? No doubt, the truck in stock form needs more ponies from the factory, but it does haul, tow, and carry like few other trucks and the interior is not chinsy.

Also, how many SRT-10s has Dodge sold, and how many SS has GM sold? That will tell you. SRT -10 is to compete with Lightning. SS competes with the Harley Davidson and it's likes. Totally different audiences.

Gunn Dodge has ONE on the floor here in San Antonio. SALE PRICE $52,000$
With a $45,000 sticker price. If my math's correct that $7,000 over sticker!!!!!

On the other hand, the SS sells here for $39,000. I think, in fact, I know I can spend $13,000 on the motor. And can run the same #'s in the 1/4 with four in the truck with me.

SRT-10 must be alot of hype just like the Hemi! I guess it has alot of potential but you better have money to burn with a price tag of $52k!

500ft lbs of torque, 4.10's, AND large brakes, and you think it wont tow a boat?

why cant you use it as a work truck? i dont get it?

and there is word of a Quad cab/Ext cab SRT-10.

SS has been available a little longer but i see your point with the price although as GMCwants pointed out to me....price is relative to location. im sure the dealer here would sell it for mid 40's.

and if they are totally different audiences, why are you comparing them?

and i dont believe the 14 second qtr for a second, maybe with a terrible driver. but L's with 380hp gettin 13.8's stock?...and this truck has another 120hp?? sure weight is a little factor but i believe these trucks are within 400lbs of each other. i'll beleive the 12.8's(smaller tires) and the 13.20's(w/22's) both at about the right mph (106-108 range)

as for gm's SS, i think protruk has the right idea with his post. especially with the 6.0 iron block(alhtough i still love the LS1) but available in different compression ratios for the boost minded

He is correct with what he says. The SRT-10 has a 1,000 lb pay load rating and Dodge does not recommend that you tow with it. More then likely that is cuz Dodge chose the cheap way of dropping the ride height... removing leaves from the rear pack. If you four link and bag the rear end though, it could probably hold its own with a 3/4 ton.
