Please tell us about your conversions and why you decided to use that engine.

Is your truck driving smooth?
Any tuning needed?
How reliable is it?
What was the most difficult part of the conversion?

Why did you use that engine? Was your engine decision determined by a budget?

Are you happy with the results?

Thanks,

other.. right now the cobra motor would have to be it if i had the cash and was working on a ford... but i still love the ls1's.

for 1500 in parts the cobra can almost touch the 11's.
91 s10 - bagged and bodydropped...getting rebuilt
91 nissan - backhalfed and bagged

Obviously for me, it's the LS1/6 or variant (6.0L)

What more can you ask for? You have old school technology that has been redifined and perfected. Resulting in a 405hp NA engine, capable of 12's, and 20+mpg.
MTI has these badboys running 9's on engine only. No NOS or forced induction.
That's why I decided on this engine.

My truck is running great, I love driving it, even though it's a 94, lol.

It's been a very reliable truck, if I could just quit racing it, haha, it would probably never break if I didn't demand so much out of it, but hell, that's what it's meant for.
The most difficult part had to be waiting on parts, oh that doesn't count. I would have to say the wiring, however it wasn't hard, just the hardest part.

My engine decision was based on; performance. I wanted an engine that could hold it's own. The LS1 was an easy decision after I compared it to all the other options.

I'm more than happy with it, I'm determined to squeeze every last hp out of the engine before I do any major mods.
My goal is 12's on a stock engine and manifolds.

later,

allen

Thanks,
1981 GMC With a 2002 LS1 4L60E out of a Camaro. It runs fantastic better than I ever imagined a swaped drivetrain could! I chose it because I can run in the 13's and get 20 MPG with full emissions smooth as glass and drive it anywhere. I'd like to get some fine tuning done with a wideband on a dyno but it has no problems now. Money was a deciding factor also with a total conversion cost of less than 5.5K. I'm sure with a ZZ4 or a 502 (my other two choices) I could have easily have spent 8K or more had a the same or a bit more performance and gotten 8-10 MPG. I guess you could say I am very happy with the results. My goal was to beat L's and I will be happy with mid 13's(when I get there) for now! You get a real bug for racing after sucess like I've had with this setup.

Sorry, the hardest part was the AC. I had to modify the right engine mounts and grind some off the frame but it fits and it will freeze you A@# off!!!

Ah good questions! I used The Camaro fuel tank with sending unit. I'm not real happy with it but it works. It fills real slow and the guage doesn't read right with my factory fuel guage. I'll probally end up getting a fuel cell and that is what I would recomend. I'm sure you could also build some kind of surge tank or put some baffels and fuel pump in the factory tanks. I wanted to get rid of the saddle tanks and move the weight behind the rear axle so I chose to mount a tank in the spare tire location. I like using the camaro sending unit(except for the guage not reading right) with the built in regulator so I have only one fuel line running to the front of the truck. With some adapter plates I made mate the LS1 block to the factory engine mounts from the 305. they look like the ones some other venders sell. The trans crossmember was easy I just moved it back and drilled some new holes. The factory shifter and driveshaft hooked right up. I'm modifying some 1996 Monte Carlo guages so I will have a electronic speedo and a tach.
