Jeff and I tried to get my AC going but there was a problem. Everytime the ac was turned on , the circuit breaker would trip and the clutch connector wires would get hot.
I found the problem:
I pulled my ac compressor apart last night and found out what was shorted. I pulled the front clutch piece off with a puller, the carefully pounded the pulley off. Under the pulley you'll notice the coil. The clutch connector is integrated with the ceramic stuff and is part of the coil. I purposely broke this connector off to see what was going on. There is a small diode in the connector and that was shorted out and smelled like a blown capacitor. It was definitely bad. Just my luck, huh.
Just to see if i could get the coil back on the compressor housing, i got a hammer and hammered the hell out of the ceramice type coil. I'll tell you , that piece is a lot tougher than it looks, so don't be afraid to hammer it back on, I'll use a soft rubber hammer and some sort of insulation when I install the good one. BTw, you take it off with a normal gear puller that can grab behind the coil. It comes right off. Nothing is touching the compressor shaft, so hammering on it seemed ok, i wouldn't have if i thought the shaft would have been damaged.
just thought i'd share that info with you guys.
later,
