    future reference

just for people in the future that tried what i did. the spectre cold air intake kit for the 99 - 06 trucks will not fit the NBS truck without modification. along with drilling the hole for the breather i had to cut 3 inches off of the main intake tube to get it to kit and not hit my fender well. still cheaper then any k&n but just to let people know its not a direct bolt up.

Well, just for future reference, your truck is considered a NNBS, or "new new body style." I didn't coin this term... The 99-07 Classic trucks are considered the NBS. The 88-99 Classic trucks are considered OBS. The 73-87 trucks are considered the Square Body trucks, etc.

As for the PCV hoses from the valve cover to the intake--an easy way to fix that is to run a Catch Can or put a small filter on each valve cover. The reason for the PCV is to allow for air and unspent gasses to be removed from the crankcase and to be reintroduced into the combustion chamber to be burned and expelled through the tailpipe. This not only allows positive, continual ventilation of the crankcase, but it helps with emissions too...

yeah i know they are called nnbs but im lazy and dont feel like typing nnbs and i would just figure everyone would get what body style my truck is when is says new body style. i think its retarded theres a difference. and i know what the line does from the valve cover i was just told the spectra would still bolt directly up to the NNBS trucks even though it wasnt ment for it. just letting people out there know that it isnt. you will have to cut the tube to make it all fit

the difference refers to a completely different platform - that's why they made a distinction.
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

heh I wish I had found your thread yesterday when I got into this kit. I figured it out for myself, but havent drilled the hole for my breather tube, yet. Of course now Ive got a code, and my engine ran hot today, for the first time ever. Btw, I only had to cut 2.5" off of the intake tube, and still had plenty of room. If I had cut more, I wouldnt have gotten a good clamping surface. Thanks for the info, even if I found too late

Triple check the clamps. Usually a tube is off or a clamp is loose or slipped.
