    Angry Talk About Snake Bit!!!

So as many of you know, I fried the #7 ringland on my truck a little while ago and it's currently under the knife. While the truck is down, I'm driving my dad's towing suburban to get around. It's a 98 with a big block 454 in it and about 100k miles on it. I hear some rattling and clanking which sounds familiar and I already know that the catalytic converter has gone bad. It clogs up and I have to have it towed. While that's being fixed, I'm driving my wife's trailblazer and go to change the oil on it and notice a rusty looking substance all over the fan and alternator. Start it up and sure enough the water pump is barely hanging on and the fan is wobbling. I get the suburban back only to find that the other cat has gone bad. I've finally got everything back to running right (except my truck) but geesh!!! What a mess! I was getting ready to just get a bicycle and give up!

I know it could be worse (Dale, sorry!), but it's just annoying and I had to rant a little!

Wow...what are the odds of all three going down in such a small amount of time? You should have bought a lottery ticket. Glad to hear all three are on the road to recovery.

We made jokes about that! Nobody (family memebers) wanted to let me use their car because they were afraid I would break it!

Dang the luck man! I know exactly how you feel--one thing after another!

So the W/P bolts backed out pretty far? Was there any coolant left????

And please tell me you threw some LT headers and an off road y-pipe on the 'Burban! Its an easy fix so that you won't have any more clogged cats...

Speaking of your motor work--whats the status?

The water pump bolts were still in pretty good and the coolant level showed to be fine. Not sure how long this was going on for and it wasn't overheating or spilling fluid on the ground. The only way we knew was when we popped the hood to add the oil, we saw that coolant had been sprayed all over the place.

I didn't add anything to the Burb, sorry! I (and my wallet) can only handle modding 1 truck at a time!! The cats are gutted so that should take care of things for a while...

As far as my motor, they are doing the valve job on the 317's I picked up and are checking the block to make sure everything is good and that it can be bored. Parts have been ordered and should start arriving by the end of the week. If all goes well, they should start balancing everything by the end of next week and assemble after that. Hopefully I'll be up and running by the first week of July....

I know, I know. But then I would have had to hold on to the extra turbo that I'm selling and gone to twins, then get an 80e, new fuel system........

I think I'll save all of that for the next build in a RCSB truck!!
