noob tranny question

i know this is a noob question, but can i find out what tranny i have from the vin #? im pretty sure its the 4L80 but i honestly dont know...thanks guys

if its the 5.3L ext cab 1500 in your sig, its a 4L60E

Look in your glovebox. There should be a "M30" code which is the 4L60e. A 4L80e will have the "MN8" or "MT1" code.

sure enough, M30....that explains my 2 tranny rebuilds in 3 years. so what do i do now? i guess either beff up the one i got now or put in the 80...what ya'll think?
