    Best for a dead battery

So what is the best, quality, and price charger or battery booster to use? Right now my battery isn't starting the truck (it is a walmart battery so far no problems).

Really don't want to have to buy a new battery just because this one went dead.

I bought a Craftsman battery charger, have had it for about 10 + years. No problems with it. Fully charge the battery over night, don't use the charger to start it and let the alternator charge it up.

Make sure to add distilled water to the battery's cells. DO NOT OVERFILL. Make sure they are about 1/4 full of water from the top of the cover. If you put the caps back over the cells and you splash water, the cells are too full. Be careful with doing so...do not get the water near your eyes and wash your hands right after doing so. Make sure to put charger on a low amperage 12 hour charge to get maximum results...

Got a charger for it. Charging at 2 amps. It was charging for an hour and it started.

This started last week, and since then its gotten weaker and weaker. Then went a 2 days without being run, and this morning it didn't start.

I do have a gps plugged in to the 12v, it pulls hardly 3v. Is it possible that would cause this? Or am I looking to possibly be needing an alternator soon? Going to get it checked (unless just a multimeter will do?) tomorrow.

if you do need to buy a new battery let me tell you this, because im sure you will before i have to.

in 1998 i purchased 2 red top optima batteries for my truck. in the past 11 years i have accidentally drained them down to zero at least 6 to 8 times. left the interior lights on, or something i always forget to turn off. one time it sat like that for a week or so before i realized it. i was running dual batteries in the truck for most of the time, until recently when i installed a CAI and needed the space and had to go with just one.
the delco factory battery in my car was going dead so i put one in there. they are still doing just fine, have plenty of reserve power and plenty of cranking power. they aren't as fresh as when they were new, but still working fine.

11 years and still going, i wont ever buy anything but an optima ever again. that is if i ever need to. lol
