thanks! The plan is just to make a nice cruiser. i want to make it look like new inside and out. i am trying to figure out what wheels i want to go with also. it has a 350 with a mild cam and a turbo 350 trans. i am getting a 700r4 built right now and should be installing it this weekend.

Dat drop.
Toss a 5.3 in there with some mild bolt ons and you would have yourself one hell of a cruiser.

And follow that up with some 17"+ torque thrust wheels and BFG KDWA tires :)

Great truck that is my favorite body style
-
Slick looking rig man!!! If it were mine I'd paint the wheels that are on there the same as the body then out some new beauty rings, centercaps and white walls on there!!!! Torque thrust look good too but are slowly becoming played out =\ keep us updated!

I decided to update this old thread instead of starting a new one. Well the old 350 took a poop not too long ago so after some thought I decided to do the 5.3 swap. Now here comes the pics!

I got the motor in using the dirtydingo slider mounts. The motor is mated to the 700r4 i just put in right before the old 350 died.

Great looking truck! Do you still have the 700R4 behind the 5.3? Did that 84 come with a 700R4 or did you swap it in? What harness/speedo did you end up using? Suspension? Sorry for all the questions. I might be doing something similar.

I still have the 700r4 behind the 5.3. I just had it built right before my old 350 gave out. I am running a 3000 stall with our also. I removed all the electronics from the 700r4 and lock up works off of pressure. The factory speedo and all gauges still work. The suspension is the McGaughy 5/7. If you need any more specific info just ask.

Can u say S-W-E-E-T!!!!!!

How'd you mate the 700R4 to the 5.3? What electronics did you remove from the trans?

I'm using trailblazer ss manifolds and had to cut the left ear off the Trans cause it hit the manifold. I also used the spacer and longer bolts for the flywheel. I had to kind of open up the bolt holes on the flywheel so i could bolt up the 700r4 converter.

Looks really sweet with the new rollers! Keep up the good work!
-
Thanks. I've been working on a turbo kit for it lately. I have a spare engine that I am mocking it up on. I am going to use the on3 78 mm and their waste gate and blowoff valve. I was thinking of running the down pipe out the bottom of the passenger fender but am afraid of how loud it will be.
-
How tough was the wiring? I saw you used LT1swap to follow. When you installed the harness, did it fire right up or did you run into issues?
-
Wiring wasn't bad at all. I did follow lt1swap.com and it help alot. I removed all the trans wires from the harness but when i do my next swap I am leaving them in. Its really not worth the work. After I got everything all hooked up and got the ecu tuned it did just fire right up. It was an exciting moment.

I got a new daily so I can park my truck and start the turbo project. The turbo is a 76mm from On3performance.

Damn! Sorry about the huge pic. Lol

What did you do for a fuel pump? Where did you get fuel line? Thanks
