Anyone got a cheap 402/408 laying around they don't need? I killed the LS1 shortblock. Number seven piston crapped out and took the cylinder finish with it. Sure, I can resleeve it but why when I could just buy someone's engine that is just sitting around and not getting used. :smile:

Damn Greg, what shot are you running? I know guys spraying a 150 all day long with no problems running stock lower ends. Are you retarding the timing when you spray? Something just doesn't sound right. What kind of setup are you using? Forged pistons will definetely help now that you're installing another block but I'd pull the plugs everytime you spray just to determine what's happening and log your pass so you can make the necessary adjustments so this won't happen again. My old vortec lived a long life and the pistons are still good in it and that was a 150 shot 2 to 3 times a week. Richard at Strictly Performance can vouch for that because he filled most of my bottles.
200 shot finished it off. It's still got another 100 in it. :laugh: The only thing retarded was the driver. Gotta get my own tuning software I guess, then I can reduce the timing when at the track. I miss my LS1Edit software. This was the first time to spray it with the new jets. It ran like a scalded ape but started smoking and the run was only about 5 seconds long. Maybe it leaned out? Don't know. Two brand new plugs bit the dust.

Get one of those new wet sleeve blocks that are like diesel engines where you just replace liners by hand when needed.

Yeah, it's been pissing me off long enough. Time to do it right. Everything is good in the engine still, just need a sleeve and piston and it could roll again but not going there.

Naw, a 6.2 is still .4 smaller than a 402. 400ci is 6.6L so I like that. Imagine a 402 with L92 heads and 90mm intake. Oops, sorry drifted off there for a minute and was having a nice dream. :smile:
When the hole developed, all that compression came into the engine block and started pumping the air/oil out the easiest place it could find, the silicone seals on the valve cover, and then poured down the header. Had I realized what was happening I could have probably pulled the oil cap off and let the pressure bleed out there. It sure made a smoky mess going down the highway.

Whats the difference between LS1 / LS6 blocks and the new LS2 aluminum block?
LS2 blocks feature a 4.00" bore, LS1 / LS6 have 3.888"
Crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons and cylinder heads are interchangeable between LS2 and LS1 / LS6 engines
LS2 cylinder heads are made from the same castings as the LS6
LS2 blocks have the knock sensor on the side of the block compared to LS1 or LS6 block that have it in the lifter valley.
The cam sensor has been moved to the timing cover (requires use of LS2 cam gear)
LS2 knock sensors send a different signal type and are not interchangeable with LS1 / LS6
LS1 computer will control LS2 engine, except for the knock sensors.
