Finally got to the track tonight after couple new mods. Alky injection and a couple more PSI boost. Air was great and as it cooled off times improved.

4 passes all in the 12's. 1st 2 runs truck still heat soaked a bit. 12.90's Let the truck cool down and last 2 runs 12.70's. Best being 12.73 @ 103.61. Still has some more in it if I can figure out how to get AFR in 3rd right. Meth has it rich. Might have to throw some more air to it. Thinking a 50-75 shot of dry N20 would do it :smile:

Got my cowl hood on today to. Truck looking pimp. Sitting in the staging lane and a car doing his burnout throws a chunk of asphalt and puts a nice ding in my fender. Wonder if I could turn that into the insurance company. :laugh:

that is so freakin Awesome Roger!! 12.7's are outta this world !!! i bet people dont even know what hit em.Congrats on the new time!! Cowl hoods look sweet on our trucks, That had to piss ya off to get a ding in the fender though :cry: , go see the dent wizard. How much boost are you running? Im hoping to raise up 2 more psi and net some lower times. Nice Work Again Rog!!! :thumb:

I don't get much street action but always get a lot of attention at the track. Guys that I out run asking what the f*** have you done to that thing. In general people that are curious about the fast truck. No bigger compliment than having a group of 6 or 7 come up after a run to look at the truck. Parked right next to a late model Cobra that just ran 11's or such and nobody even looking at it. The other funny thing I've noticed now are the gang of ricers sitting back in the staging lanes and picking something domestic they think they can out run and diving into line beside them. First time I hit the staging lanes usually I'll have 3 or 4 ricers almost race to get lined up beside me. Doesn't happen the second runs or so. :laugh:

I am really liking the hood. Makes the truck look a little more sporty but not screaming look at me... I especially like the look out of the windshield when driving.

Running 9psi now. I am about out of boost. No knobs to turn like you turbo guys. :jump: There is only one more pulley size I can drop to and it MIGHT net me 1 more psi of boost.

Thanks, every .1 I improve now is a big thing to me.

Kind of both. Launch 4 then go 2 after the 1-2 shift. I know the transfer case doesn't put power to the front when I do this on the track but under load I'm almost certian the front diff doesn't disengage.

Do you have or have you thought about the 90 MM TB conversion? Seems there is a lot of improvement there.

I don't have it and am still on the fence about getting it. It is an expensive mod. I think it was hyped a bit as a big improvement but I've talked to a couple buddies that have done it and it hasn't panned out to be all that some are saying. There is also the issue of the TB not opening all the way for some and nobody has figured out exactly the combination of TAC (Throttle Actuator Control), OS version, TB that works.

I will probably wind up with it. It has to be an improvement, I just don't expect to see what some are claiming. I am seeing some weird airflow in 3rd gear that might point to an intake restriction. I need to pull my air filter couple trips down the track to test. If I see improvements there it will move up on the mod list.

KySilverado - way to go!!! Although...ughh another truck that can beat me by a second or more. I'm clinging to my N/A aspect faithfully (that and there's no way I'll ever be able to afford the conversion to FI ... LOL)

I'm curious - the E-Fans .... was there any improvement there other than heating/cooling or was it just for asthetic purposes?

Extended cab running 12s....gotta be some records for that somewhere...

I didn't really feel any improvement performance wise with the e-fans but that was the primary reason for installing them. Did gain a bit of cooling capacity with a 34" radiator. Did loose the airplane sound of the stock fan, did clean up and add a bit of room in the engine bay. Also gained about 1 mile per gallon fuel mileage.

Record... there are a lot of fast trucks these days. Guessing the truck would be toward the top of the list for a ECSB Z71. The 12.73 is just as I drive it around daily. Tailgate, spare tire, hitch, seats everything in/on it.

ok by daily driver do you mean around town daily driver, or like driving three hours straight and it running smooth/comfortable daily driver? btw how in the world do you not get street races with that beast?

Again, thanks for the props. Its taken a lot of work and a few dollars to get here. Would also like to add that I have done every bit of the wrenching myself. Didn't build the tranny but put it in by myself. Along with the 6.0, blower, cams etc... Most mods done over a weekend because I had to have the truck to get to work on Monday. I do now have a beater which helps.

I would not hesitate to drive it accross country. Full A/C, Cruise on. Rides and drives pretty much like it did stock other than the very firm shifting and the TCC lock up. Pull down 17 mpg on the highway.

Don't get many street races cause it doesn't look or sound like anything I guess. Idles like stock, factory wheels. Nobody gives it a second thought. I just put a cowl hood on it to sport it up. Thinking about a personnel tag like BLWN 6L to entice a few. Did get a few races with some in town. Now that they know its fast nobody messes with me there.

Would you feel the urge to race a 40 year old guy in this?

Yes a Goodmark. I have always loved cowl hoods. Defiantely a classic. I remember tooling around in the day in a buddies 71 Chevelle. It had functional cowl induction, the little flapper that opened up to scoop up the air and put it into the intake. Cool then cool now!

most definitley the cowl hood has made chevy's everywhere look awesome, nothing better than a 69 Z with a cowl hood. I was very impressed with the fit and finish of my goodmark hood. Also i beleive it helps let some hot air escape. dont stare at the little holes on the back side too long, youll get discombobulated!! :eek:

Can you say SLEEPER. Man that thing doesn't look like it's sleeping it looks like it's in a coma. Nobody would ever expect it was fast as hell. That is so cool. I would love to go for a ride and see the look on peoples faces when you kick their ass. :rock:

Thanks man, I do have fun with it.

"Coma", thats funny. :laugh: Have most of my fun at the track. Shooting the crap with a guy in the staging lanes Friday night. 98 Cobra, DR's and some engine mods according to him. Absolutley beautiful car. He was like good looking truck, how's it run? Okay I say. I'm telling him to take it easy on me, short shift that thing, ease out of the hole, you know just kidding him a bit. He's a nice guy, laughing and saying sorry guy I have to go for it, I've driven 3 hours to get here. Told him I understood, no mercy on the track and all.

He wound up running like a 13.5, I lead him the whole way. They were having having trouble printing out time slips so you had to go to the tower to get them. Of course we wind up there at the same time. He climbed out of the car with a big smile on his face... "You A---hole, what the hell is in that truck, I thought you were going to drag the hitch on the track the whole way down... " Wound up shooting the crap for a half hour. Good fun

Ohhh they will in two wheel drive, absolutely no brake stalling can be done, it will just sit and smoke them. Full throttle from idle will smoke them clear into 3rd but at least it will move forward while doing it. Rolling at any speed (about 40 or less) then punching it to where it drops into 1st they will break loose but not so bad as to smoke them. Get a good bark and side step into second usually.

At the track I lauch in 4wd hi almost always. On the street if the competition dictates it. Brake stalled to about 2800. It will lift the front end to the limits of suspension travel and turn the fronts over just a smidge and sidestep just a bit then its hooked. Push the 2wd button after the 1-2 shift. It really transfers weight well to the rear. Everyone comments on how it carries the front end down the track. I am thinking I could improve my 60' times if I could stiffen the rear suspension a bit. Leaf clamps or something. Use the torque to push it forward rather than wasting it on lifting the front end. You can see the lift and twist in my sig picture. Front end is high enough that the wheels are cambered in.

Hey Bob, thanks, your truck was the inspiration for the hood. I think they really set the NBS off. Get within a second of me and you would be making about the same power. You sir drive a HEAVY PIG :smile:

Mountian Parkway Dragstrip (Clay City, KY) There are not a lot to choose from anymore. There are some closer but only 1/8mi. I am going to try out London Dragway, London KY sometime soon. They regularly have issues with something or other at Clay City. Makes for frustrating trips. Make your best run and not get a good print out for it sucks.
