Truck ran 13.5 at SAR, still not tuned all the way will sell for $25,000 with all the goodies, turbo, motor, FMIC or will take out 5.7 and replace with stock 5.3 setup and part out the goodies.

Just tired of going back and forth tuning. Everyday it's something different. It's fast, but I'm done. It'll either sell or I'm going n/a with a cam / NOS. Maybe 408+. I dunno? If anyone wants a really nice truck with all the work already done, here it is. I'll buy a tahoe and make it fast.

dont give up bro! it took me a while to get the bugs out of my truck but now i will Never be with out it! It's just so cool to have a turbo truck or a fast truck for that matter.

Compression test shows #7 cylinder is dead. :cry: Pulling the motor tomorrow and taking it to the machine shop. Will try to replace just the 1 piston/ring if possible. If not, the whole set up will be changed. Option 1: put a stock 5.3 in an sell it / trade it. Option 2: build a 408-427 ls1 n/a with forged internals (f the turbo, maybe NOS). Option 3: just a nice 6.0 with the patriot heads and a big ol' cam (cheap route).
Either way the turbo is for sale. STS kit 12k miles rebuilt precision T74 turbo, Custom FMIC, Methanol kit, Boost gauge. Boostaholics enjoy, I'm done.

My two cents - if I had to do it over, I would START with whatever has the most HP and THEN put some money into that to give it even more. I've put a lot of dough (way less than some of you) into my truck and it's just now able to smoke a Titan or Hemi...and that's assuming they're stock or have very little mods. A modded Titan (cam, etc) would probably dust me. Point being why put a bunch of time and money into something that's just getting by some of the stock competition when you can buy that kind of HP if you look around (i.e. Trailblazer, SS, etc.). Then build that so you have a pretty huge edge on 'the other guys'.
I'm pretty happy with my setup, but I've said this before - when I bought it, I wasn't even THINKING about performance mods. I'd sure do it different.
All that being said, I guess I'm saying I say go for it - get the Trailblazer or whatever with all of that factory installed HP and then do all of the little goodies to make even more.
Plus, that way I can live vicariously through you.
i was looking forward to seeing it in action too. tha truck is like my trcuks BIG BROTHER :laugh: .. i hope you keep it. you have put alot into . if anything you should have sold it when the 5.3 died. but hang in there. you have your support team here :hshake:
Piston is dead...pics soon. Cyl walls look OK. Plan on honing, new piston/ring combo and then back to square 1 with tuning, being very careful this time. 10 psi max til we get it right. might go back to maf tune. getting opinions either way it's a toss-up. looking into more fuel to rear cylinders to avoid the detonation in #7,8. Can HP Tuners adjust inj pulse width on indiv injectors? Allen?
Goin to machine shop tomorrow (not wasting any time). Overnighting parts asap.
THEREFORE, turbo not for sale (sorry cuz) YET. Will keep posted.
Anyways, the trucks need to be represented around here. Too much rice and crustangs.
id say get a LS7 and be done with it. Keep the sts and install on the LS7 at about 7 lbs of boost. then you have NO competition.(except me)

I knew you would 'nt sell your turbo toy! I had fun with mine tonight. people just hear that baby whistle'n and cant believe its a truck, I love it!!
Hole in piston and thrust washer/bearing thing was crushed and lying in the oil pan. New parts on the way. be back together by wednesday.
Need a converter.
call precision and get one!!!, bullet proof baby! no headaches. they are made to your specs so itll need to be ordered if this is the route you choose.

Breaking parts is all just part of racing. If you aren't breaking things then you aren't trying hard enough. I say that after spending $700 on heads, valve covers, gaskets, new coil mounts, fuel rail covers, coolant and miscellaneous parts to put it all back together again. :nx:
